These terms govern your use of the MessKit application and this website. MessKit is made and sold by Reckoner Labs LLC, a Utah limited liability company (“we,” “us”). By purchasing or using MessKit you agree to these terms.

1. The license

When you purchase MessKit you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on Macs you personally own or control. The purchase is a one-time payment — it is not a subscription and does not renew.

You may not resell, redistribute, sublicense, or circumvent the app’s licensing, or use MessKit to violate any law.

2. Purchases and payment

Orders are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles payment, applicable sales tax or VAT, and payment-related support; your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms. Refunds are described in our refund policy.

3. What MessKit does — and is designed never to do

MessKit helps you reclaim disk space taken by Messages attachments and browse what your conversations contain. It is designed to never delete or alter your conversations, to move removed files to the macOS Trash rather than deleting them permanently, and to keep your data on your Mac as described in the privacy policy.

You remain responsible for your own data, including deciding when to empty the Trash and maintaining backups (such as Time Machine). MessKit operates on data that Apple’s Messages app manages; Apple’s own syncing behavior — notably Messages in iCloud, which may re-download attachment files that were removed locally — is outside our control, and the app and this site describe that behavior honestly rather than promising around it.

4. Requirements

MessKit requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later and the macOS permissions it requests (such as Full Disk Access, and Photos or Contacts access for the features that use them). You can revoke these permissions at any time in System Settings.

5. Updates and support

Your purchase includes app updates at no additional charge. We provide support by email at drfindley@gmail.com. We may release paid major upgrades in the future; if we do, your existing version keeps working and its license does not expire.

6. Warranty disclaimer

MessKit is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted. Some jurisdictions do not allow warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reckoner Labs LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of MessKit — and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

8. Trademarks

MessKit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. Apple, Mac, macOS, Messages, Photos, and iCloud are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

9. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update this page and its “last updated” date. Material changes will be noted plainly. Continued use of MessKit after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah.
